Our color foundation is based on our brand blue and monochromatic color palette. In addition to these colors, we have a variety of accent, secondary, and status colors that can be used throughout product UIs. Below is a sample of how our colors are applied, and the full palette along with specs is available in the tokens section.
Micro Focus utilizes Google’s open-source designer web font Roboto. Below is a typography sample of the more common styles that are used in our design language. More details and specs are available in the tokens section.
“Roboto has a dual nature. It has a mechanical skeleton and the forms are largely geometric. At the same time, the font features friendly and open curves. While some grotesks distort their letterforms to force a rigid rhythm, Roboto doesn’t compromise, allowing letters to be settled into their natural width. This makes for a more natural reading rhythm more commonly found in humanist and serif types.”
In languages where Roboto is not available our backup font is Google’s Noto font.
Icons are used throughout UI’s to portray functionality, used to highlight core actions, to visually express common controls, and to visually enhance information and UI’s within applications. Control icons have a larger hit area around them and work well on mobile platforms.
There are many icons available to download in the resources section. If there’s an icon that you need to create, our guidelines for creating icons is as follows:
- All icons are built on a 16 x
- 16-pixel frame, and use a 1-pixel stroke.
